Laptop to TV via RGB problem. (samsung n110 - Lg lcd)?

My laptop will connect to another monitor and my LG tv will connect the RGB from a PC. So I know that there is no problem with both TV or laptop and leads. I have had them set up before but for some strange reason the tv just says no connection this time. Is there some kind of setting on the laptop for this, or is there some other explanation.
 
Plug in your cable then switch off both tv and laptop , your laptop should ask you to select a monitor , select external and it should show on your tv . You may have to press source on your tv remote and select PC before you can see your computer .
