I usually keep my laptop plugged in all the time. Tonight while using it (plugged in of course) the screen dimmed because the laptop was going into battery mode. The power cords were very hot as they had been sitting under a blanket on my bed (which didn't alarm me because they've gotten this hot since I've owned the laptop, even when they're not under anything). I checked that the male plug of the cord was plugged into the laptop firmly, that the two parts of the cords were connected and that the plug in the outlet was firmly in the surge protector. I unplugged a couple of things from the surge protector, turned it off and on (it still works, the light is still on), changed which slot the laptop was plugged in, all to no avail. The power cords aren't hot anymore and the laptop is still running off battery life :/ My laptop is a Compaq (so says the box), but uses an HP power cord (came that way) and HP software, excuse me if this confusing me shows my computer ignorance ;x I'm thinking it's just the power cord? Where can I get a new one?
