I am very new to cutting stones, and have yet to get a good high polish. I am working on an inland All in wonder 6" lap. I am having real trouble at the polish stage, where I can either see very fine flat spots that only appear when the finished stone is rotated, or the polish is not as bright as i would like.. On a lap, how can that be avoided? I don't have a 3000 grit lap, but I didn't think it would be needed. I also am using the felt pad and cerium oxide to polish. Any techniques for polishing this way? I don't know how much pressure, how wet the pad should be, or the speed. I know I will have to develop my own way, but it would be really encouraging to put out one nice cab. Any information would be great. Thanks!
