Our Letting agent came to visit us today and told us our 2 parking spaces and garden are being taken away so my landlord can build a new property. She also told us our rent would not be increased but stay the same due to this but we still have to pay the extra£30 we pay every month for our garage which we will no longer have. They are still waiting for planning permission on this. Can we contest this at all? I have just brought a brand new very expensive car which i do not feel comfortable parking on the main road (2 previous cars have been vandalised off the drive). I'ts like we should be pleased our rent won't be put up £10 a month but losing our parking and garden?? I am really not happy about this and we don't really want to move but what options do we actually have?
just to confirm i am looking to buy but wont be ready for another year at least when i have 25% deposit - the car was brought by my mum as a present not by me!! my problem is my landlord works for he council in the planning permission of all places i just want to know my legal rights to contest the work being done and the rent staying the same even though i lose my garden and 2 spaces plus the risk of damage from the building work to my car etc
