I went to go see a psychiatrist about two days ago and prescribe me Lamotrigine (lamictal). My mood is always shifting from lows to highs and whatnot. He did not diagnose me with anything, well I did not ask him but I'm kind of concern about my mental health. I'm not sure if I have a mental disorder. I have family member who are bipolar/suffer from depression but I honestly do not believe thats the reason why I'm taking this medicine. I began taking the medication and I'm feeling really good the past two days even though it can take up to 6-8 weeks for the medicine to kick in. I'm also concern about the side effects and whatnot. I feel like I do not need this medicine and feel that I could handle my mood swings on my own. I want to say I'm in denial about everything, I just need some good advise about all this! Thank you!
I received a diagnoses from my psychiatrist earlier today and I was diagnose with Cyclothymic Disorder which is a mild form of Bipolar Disorder. I still feel scared about all of this.
