This house that we are looking to purchase has tiles throughout the house.. Tiles are great and all since I live in a hot dry desert but I have young children who will be spending much time all over that floor on their barefoot and knees, and neither do we wear shoes in the house. I'm also worried if they ever fell the hard floor will be dangerous also.
The tiles are smooth ceramic, about 24x24 on very even floor w/ shallow grouts.
I know area rugs are an option but I want something more permanent and covering every bit of the floor. However, I don't want to damage the tiles beneath in case we have to sell the house later and tile is popular.
So is it possible to put laminate wood ? and how difficult is it to do it?
what about those vinyl tiles, like peel and stick types?
Is this something I can DIY, or should hire a professional to do?
