Hi all,
Surgery went well, or so the the Doc says. Sorry havent written right away but havent felt up to it. Still not up to much of anything. Laying around is killing my hips, but those are my only 2 positions for now. My husband had to change the tape b/c I was complaining of my back itching where the tape was so, I had to have paper tape put on. In the meantime foun out I now have a new 7 in line w/staples in it. fun fun. My walking is minimum. Me trying for a sponge bath forget that, I try that in the bathroom that lasts 2 minutes, and I have to go lay down. THIS SUX.
I go see the Dr on tuesday to see what he has to say about everything also.
Hope to hear from everyone soon. Susan

Susan I just wanted to let you know that I am glad that everything went okay and you are home. Take it easy and I know it is hard to sleep because I stayed in my recliner a long time at first but I had to be careful how I sit also. We know you will get back online when you are feeling better but for now just take care of yourself.

Gentle Hugs:angel:

I am glad everything went good for you. I as well took showers only with hubby for almost 3 weeks after and it was not everyday as i was really exhausted like you. And i know what you mean about the scar with staples i have one from the middle of my stomache around belly botton and all the way down, and it looks like a rail road track. I hate it. When i had surgery in 2002 they put staples in my back and it dont look like the belly one does and this time they just put stitches.

I hope you feel better soon!

Hey Susan,
Glad you're home and can relax in your own bed.

I had a very hard time washing up, too. I had to use a walker for the first 6 weeks because I kept going black. I made it back to my bed in time so I didn't actually pass out, except once. I knew I was going down and my teenaged son was near, so I yelled and he ran and caught me and eased me over to the bed. So washing up was an issue. I took showers only every third day for several weeks, as I didn't want to risk passing out in there, and then it was as minimal as possible. I had several times when I felt that blackness coming on in the shower and just got the soap off as fast as I could, grabbed the towel as I got out of the shower, stepped into my slippers so I wouldn't slip, and went to the bed soaking wet, towel in hand. I had some of those wet wipes that I had picked up to use in the bathroom. I ended up using them to wipe off my body standing at the sink. No where near as refreshing as a shower, but at least I didn't stink!

Hang in there, Susan. It will get easier! The first couple of weeks are the hardest. After that, you'll still have some pain, but you'll slowly get strength back and you'll get into kind of a routine, which will be mostly resting and walking.

Let us know what questions you have and we'll try to help.

Take care!
Emily

I am so glad the surgery is behind you now you can start healing and feeling better. Take your meRAB as you need them around the clock and don't try to be super woman by not taking them. The key is to stay ahead of the pain and not get behind it. Just a voice of experience - been there and done that.

Try and sleep all you can and take baby steps. Good luck and if you have any questions we are here for you.

It is so bad just laying around, my hips on both sides and my legs hurt from just lying around. Every now and then I get up for a lil walk just to stretch them, but then I go lay down an start all over again. My back itches from both the healing and the adheasive being on my back for so long. I already had the one tape change due to the the tape allergy. Now I have Paper Tape, and that itches, but I think that is just from being on for the length of time. Now my thing is the Sponge baths, and Hair.
Other than that can't sit, can't recline, can only lay on sides and type for a lil bit then thats it. So that is why I am not always responding back right away.
I have a Drs appointment on Tuesday so I am hoping that he gives me some encouraging news.
Susan
