Laguna Seca MotoGP Anyone?

Anyone planning/thinking of going to the race this year. I just moved to Las Vegas from Oklahoma and now that I am so much closer, I have always wanted to go. I have been looking at ticket prices and they are actually very cheap. Anyone know of a good place to get tickets. I have been looking at Ticketmaster and they are about 80 per person for General Admission. I would like to get better seats, but am not sure there are any other types of tickets. Any words of advice from anyone?

Thanks guys in advance.

God bless and ride safe.

Im going. the fiance got me some tickets as a christmas gift. I never been there before but from what I hear, grandstands are not really worth it. People have told me that it is better to just walk around or camp on the hill. I dont know where to find good deals but she bought ours from http://www.mazdaraceway.com and they sell for the same price as you mentioned earlier.

I am thinking about getting two General Admission passes for me and my wife and instead of paying for seats, spending the extra money for paddock access. Need to figure out what the parking situation is. probably have to buy a three day pass for 30. Anyone else have experience with Laguna? Any information is greatly appreciated.

I have been every year since the GP has been back. I have found that the paddock passes are worth it. Also, I used to walk around the track and watch the race, but for the last three years I have purchased turn four grandstand seats. For me, it is well worth it. I can watch the riders coming out of turn 3, and watch them drag their knees throught turn 4 and haul ass for turn 5. Also, they have the huge screen right across the track where I can wath all the action everywhere else on the track during the race. It is great to roam the track and watch the practices, but I prefer to have a nice seat to watch the race. Just my opinion. Enjoy - I highly recommend going to Monterey for the race - it is a blast!

Hey Evan, what do you recommend for a place to stay. We were thinking of doing the three day pass and now that you and a guy I met at the Ducati shop have mentioned turn 4 for the same reasons, I am going to do that as well. Should we look for hotels, camp, or being in the military I may be able to rent an RV from the base for about 100 a day. Let me know what you think we should do. If we get a hotel however, we can still enjoy the beach and Monterey while we are there.

Thanks a million

Hey Guys, I am going too.. I will be going with one other person.. We are going for the whole weekend.. I may see if I can get Ducati passes.. Let me know where you guys intend to stay and maybe we can all hook up for the weekend.. My buddy and I are going to fly out there, and don't intend on riding..

Let me know..

Mindiraser,

I have done the races several ways as far as accommodations go. I have camped above turn 11 (which is no longer an option unless you have reserved camping) which was fantastic - you can walk the track, watch from the hillside, and still enjoy your grandstand seats. I have rented a house in Pacific Grove off the VRBO website - view of the bay, walk to Cannery Row and downtown Monterey, have stayed in Santa Cruz in a hotel (too far, traffic sucks, and parking was a pain in the ass), and finally (last year) trailered our Ducs down from WA State and rented a house down in Gonzalez (about 30 minutes away) and rode in and parked on Ducati Island every day. This year I reserved some camping and rented a motorhome. I plan to get down to Laguna early (probably Thursday) and camp at Laguna, then get in line to grab a spot early Friday morning. Once that is done, let the games begin....check out the vendors, drink cold beer, bbq at the campsite at night, and live the track life for three days.....very much fun! Hotel rates in downtown Monterey will suck. If you can get a good deal, go for it, and take the bus to the track everyday. There are also some options to stay in Carmel - go for motels here, as the hotels are pretty pricey! If you need further help or information, just holler or send me a PM and I will be happy to help!

yeah guys I am definately down to meet up when we get there. I was thinkin about renting an RV from the AF base, I am in AF, and camping. Will just have to see if I can get some of my buddies to pitch in if they decide to go too.

I will definitely be there. Already have all the tickets purchased. Just go through the website for Mazda Raceway as mentioned earlier. It is the best way to get tickets. Grandstand is overrated I think. Got them last year and never used them. Turn 4 does sound nice though.

My brother and I will be riding up from San Diego on his 1000RR and his new Hypermotard after I fly down from Portland to meet up with him. Was going to ride the 1098 down from Portland, but then I came to my senses (Ouch!!!) We already have accomidations lined up at the track for camping in the reserved turn 11

Last year was my first year, and I will not miss another race. If you've never been, your in for a truly amazing experience. We plan on posting up at the Corkscrew again to see if there are any more dirt tracking antics like last year. That was sweet to see that pass in person! We were right on the fence for it.

See you there!

My wife and I will be there with the kiddos this year. Grandstand turn 4 seats, paddock passes, hospitality tent (mainly for the shade and drinks for the kids), went for the full monty.

Right now planning on renting a place as we will roll in on Tuesday and do family stuff outside of the races that week too. We all def' need to try to organize a DucSpot dinner one night if we can. Would be great to get to put some faces and real names with the online persona....
