I've been using advair and singulair for over 10 years and just now saw they both contain lactose. I've had so many issues with allergies and sensitivities to fooRAB and fillers in medicine lately. Has anyone else who's lactose intolerant had a problem with advair or singulair? I read most asthma medicine contains lactose so I'm not sure if there's anything else I could take.

I believe it's just the dry-powder inhalers that contain lactose. Advair HFA contains only salmeterol, fluticasone, and the propellant, HFA.

This was on the Advair website. What's the difference between Advair Diskus and Advair HFA? I have the Diskus.

Does ADVAIR contain lactose?

ADVAIR DISKUS contains lactose. Do not use ADVAIR DISKUS if you have severe allergy to milk proteins. Ask your doctor if you are not sure.
ADVAIR HFA does not contain lactose.

I've been noticing I get sinus inflammation after I use the Advair Diskus.

The HFA is in an inhaler like Flovent and Albuterol not a disk. The ones in the inhalers typically do not have lactose in them. Ask your doctor about a change to one of them. The diskus is easier for people to learn to use than the inhalers - or so they think.

I am lactose intolerant & have been taking both advair & singulair for several years with no problem. I wouldn't think that advair would cause problems because it is inhaled & doesn't go thru the digestive system. If you have lactose intolerance as opposed to an actual allergy, there should be no problem with the inhaler. As far as singulair, if it has lactose I would guess it could cause a problem, maybe depending on how much is in there & how severe your lactose intolerance is. If you have an actual allergy, you should probably check with your dr before using.

Then I must have an allergy or a severe intolerance because right after I use the Advair Diskus lately my sinuses become so inflammed I can't breathe and they hurt. I'm going to ask my doc to switch me to the HFA inhaler instead.

Well, for whatever reason, it sounRAB like your body doesn't like that medicine. Probably the HFA will go better!
