Lack of Power in a 1999 jeep wrangler?

I have a 1999 jeep wrangler with 4.0L straight six in an automatic with 88,745 miles on it. Lately I have a sharp decrease in Power and MPG. I used to get about 17 to 19 MPG now I get about 12 to 13 MPG. When I press on the accelerator or am going up hill the engine seriously lags. I also live in Colorado at 10,000 ft so I know that the thin air at this altitude can effect engine performance but it just started happening and I've had my jeep here for almost two years. Any Suggestions?
