HI can anyone read my mri results and let me know what they think?????
At L5/S1 there is a moderate sized central disc extrusion, with some inferior migration of disc material. This projects towarRAB the left, displacing the left s1 root and this is the likely cause of left s1 root symptons.
Other reports on my lurabar sac are of adequate calibre.
Midline and left-sided disc extrusion L5/S1 with left s1 root compression.

Will i need surgery??
My apt to see consultant is in January... id just like a bit of advice from others..... Thanks lou

They will probably have you try more consrvative treatments first, such as 12 weeks of physical therapy, chiropractic care, anti inflammatory medications, and injections. If these fail and your symptoms do not improve, then you may need surgery.

If you are experiencing nerve symptoms, they will want to perform surgery earlier. The usual protocol is if there are nerve compression symptoms, it is better to relieve that nerve compression sooner, rather than later. Some surgeons may send you for a PM consult to see if injections might help, but in the cases of nerve symptoms, they tend to refer you back to the surgeon.
That was my experience after having several nerve symptoms and facing surgery.
