I had a spinal fusion Sept. 2008. Dr. sent me back to work after only 3 weeks.Light duty of course, but not being able to lie down for 8 hours is killing me. Has anyone else here gone back to work so soon?

No, and I don't want to even imagine that!

I hope you take your whole repetoire of equipment with you: grabber, ice packs and/or heating pad, pain meRAB, cane if necessary, etc. Is there anyplace you can lay down for short perioRAB during the day, like during a break or lunch?

That's got to be tough! Hang in there. At least it will gradually get easier.

Take care!

That is crazy!!!! Seriously I don't think that you should be back at work at all right now. I know I would not have been able to ( my surgery was a lot more involved then a fusion), but still I really, really don't think you should be back at work. It could have a negative effect on your healing process. Why and or what were the reasons that you doctor sent you back to work so early for?!? Look forward to hearing from you. Take care of yourself.

I can't even imagine going back to work that soon.:( What kind of work do you do? I still think that is too soon regardless of type of work. Home health was still coming by to work with me on my walking of course I did have two surgeries so actually I was having my second surgery 3 weeks after my first one. I really don't know what to say but hope you are able to get some time to rest and lay down during your day. My thoughts and prayers are with you and I hope you can get some more time off.

Doctor didn't really say why, but I bet it has something to do with 'work comp'. Case worker is a real jerk. Oh well, I'll get thru this. Hope you are doing well.

Ugh! You're probably right! Make sure that those you work with/for are aware when you're having a hard time. If you hide your pain, they're going to say that you have no problem coming back to work. Be honest, don't exaggerate, don't downplay it.

I wish you the best,
Emily
