Good afternoon backbuddies

I'm almost 5 weeks post op L5/S1 fusion, my recovery is going well with no problems...until this morning!
I seem to have sprung a leak !
My wound site is virtually healed over apart from a small area right in the middle of my scar, maybe an inch long which is still scabbed.
lying in bed this morning reading a book, I felt a trickle tickle!
immediate thought was Oh No..Blood! my hand was wet but free from blood..phew!
Got myself up to investigate further and ooooh fluid came pouring out, running down my back and legs, next thought was infection, but i dont feel unwell nor is the fluid pus like or smelly, its very watery and slightly off coloured yellowy-ish.
leakage went on for maybe 2-3 hours, not gushing ..a steady fast trickle.
being the weekend i cant get hold of my surgeon and the hospital is a 60 mile round trip which i really dont fancy unless absolutely ness!
the leak has slowed now to more of a weep and i now have a hideous headache each time i stand up.
other than that i feel fine in myself, i have had no tenderness, redness or swelling at wound site and cant think of anything that i may have done to prompt leaking 5 weeks after surgery......
Has anyone experienced anything similar, my thinking is that i may have an infection but then i think maybe not due to the amount of fluid discharged and im feeling fine and it just doesnt look infected.......... :dizzy:

You need to call your DR. ASAP!! SounRAB like a spinal fluid leak especially w/ the headache. your fluid is now low that's why the headache. Lay still in the bed don't move...drink lots of fluiRAB until you get in touch w/ him. As a matter of fact, do you still have your discharge sheet from the hospital? can you call the nurses station where you had the surgery and talk to the nurses there? SERIOUS STUFF!

I had the same thing happen except the headaches. Mine turned out to be that my body was rejecting the internal stitches. It eventually healed but now I have a big indent at the top of my scar.
