My second surgery will be January 25th as the posterior L4-L5 Laminectomy/discectomy done on March 13, 2009 only worked until the scar tissue formed. The eppidural treatment before the first surgery that they suggested made things even worse. I was clawing at the xray table to the point of breaking off fingernails, and all the guy could say was, "oh it looks like we found the right spot."
The first surgery was an emergency so I was not prepared. I went in for a consultation with the neurosurgeon and he did surgery the same day. I was not able to walk. He told me if I had not had surgery I would have severed the nerve.
I had a Discogram on Deceraber 10, 2009 and that was a horribly painful test! That test showed that I have done even more damage to the discs again.
I have stenosis, as well as dessication on those discs. The first disc surgery was so bad that he had to "dig" up into L4 to get part of the disc out as I had shredded 30% of the disc. Not really sure how I accomplished that, but I made him work for his money that day.
So now to why I wrote this.... What QUESTIONS do I need to ask this time? I read these posts and I hear you are down for weeks, not able to work or drive, and I am freaking out. What do I ask? Pain pumps, cages, please give me questions to ask, as I see this surgery is so very different.
