I had a fall on concrete and have a compressed fracture of T12 which is not only sore/bruise type of pain but radiates around to my right side and that is painful to almost loose breath. Was told by pain management dr. to have the kyphoplasty procedure and will have immediate relief... Orthopedist, though, says not to have it -that it will only last for 1 year and later will be worse. Has anyone had this microsurgery that puts cement into the vertebrae? How was it, how long ago? what results? Good or bad?
Please help me find info because there's only a small window where one can have this surgery.
Thanks so much, Tia Sus

I had a hard fall on concrete 6 weeks ago and have been diagnosed with a compressed fracture of T12. The pain is much more in my right side radiating around to front with reaching, moving, and then if I stand for more than a few minutes across my lower back. The pain is not only a sore feeling; it's like a bad bruise and drawing pain as well. Was told by pain mgt./ dr. to have the Kyphoplasty procedure placing cement into the vertibrae but orthopedist says not to do it and "live wiht pain" and it will heel itself. It's not getting better and there's only a small window left to decide to proceed with the procedure before fracture heals by self (and maybe not so right). Has anyone had Kyphoplasty or knows about it? Results? Long term? Opinions? I need your help a.s.ap.
Thanks, Tia Sus

hi - just joined this group since I had t12 compressed fracture a few weeks ago. Since you had the fracture too long ago, question is do you still have pain in that area or has it gone away after time? That answer would really help me decide to have the procedure before the window stated for kyhoplasty is over - only good from 2-12 weeks after fall.
Thanks for your help and I do hope you have no pain.
