KX250 dirt bike, should I rebuild? Cheapest way?

So I have a '93 KX250, and not alot of money. I've had it for about 6-7 years, and the only maintenence I've done is air filter cleanings, and crank case oil changes, and fixed parts that broke. I know theres probably lots of things, like fork oil changes, or rebuilds, carb rejetting, etc that should be done, but I'm the type of guy that as long as something is working good enough for me I don't want to take the time or money to fix it unless it breaks.

Anyways, the bike runs good, I'm satisfied with the power, perhaps its not running at 100%, but its definetly got plenty of raw power to keep me happy. Only thing is, it seems to be smoking more than it should, I know 2 strokes smoke but it seems to smoke way more than I ever remember, I can easily smoke up my culdesac, or look back on the trail and see the last 200 feet are full of blue smoke. I don't know where the smoke could possibly be coming from since the oil is mixed 40:1, and its not burning crank case oil (haven't added any in probably the past 10-20 hours of riding and its still at the window).

Anyways, back to the main part of my question. Right now I have my whole top end taken off the bike because I took off the exhaust to clean it out and repack, and I found a piece of an exhaust valve inside there (although it seems like more of a useless little flapper to smoothe out air flow going over the real valve as far as I can tell, I'm thinking about not even replacing it). In order to access that valve I had to take the whole top off.

This is my first time getting this deep into an engine. And although I did a compression test before taking the engine apart, I found out I did it wrong, I didn't have the throttle open, I just kicked it over a few times with the throttle closed. I got a reading of about 130 and wasn't even kicking my hardest, could have probably got it higher, but I called it good. So now the engine is apart though and I don't really know if a rebuild is necessary. Is there any way to tell at this point?

I'm guessing being I've had it for about 6 years, and probably at least 100 hours of use, if not maybe double that. Seems like it would be due, but like i said, it has enough power for me to be happy. Sure, more would be better, but only if it comes with a cheap price tag, like replacing some piston rings since i have it apart or something. If its an expensive process i'd just leave it.

Also, what all is involved in a rebuild? Just piston rings, or rings and piston, or what? How do you know if all the parts usually replaced in a rebuild actually need replacing? How expensive is it? Do they come in kits or seperate? And do you think it would do anything to make the bike smoke less?

Thanks.
