Before I judge this (and I am really trying not to at this point, but it's hard), I need to know a little more about the concept.
First of all, who's playing Magoo? The late Jim Backus is, uh, unavailable, and I really don't know who else could do it justice. That doesn't mean there are no actors who could step into Backus's shoes, but they'll be standing in a very large and well-known shadow and may feel tempted to change the essence of the character.
Second: why don't we see the actor playing Magoo? I have two ideas about this: either he hasn't been cast yet or Magoo only has a minor role in the series, which is more likely to focus on the kid characters. If the latter is the case, why even make it a "Mr. Magoo" show?
Also: How much are they going to change the essence of the Magoo character to fit today's politically correct benchmarks for children's television. Will he still be nearsighted, and will they wring comedy from his inability to see properly. Sorry, I just don't see Disney going for this.
And for those of us who liked the "classic" Magoo, will Disney do to him what they did to George of the Jungle, and other properties they've licensed from other studios, and try to bury the original cartoon under a legal morass, so no one can ever see them again? If that's the case (and let's face it, this is DISNEY), I'm calling suck on this one rigtht now.
Finally: don't we have enough TV shows that are based on a complete and total misunderstanding of martial arts? Between Xiaolin Showdown, Pucca, Skunk Fu, Yin Yang Yo, Chop Socky Chooks (and WTF is a "chook", anyway? Somebody tell me, 'cause I can't force myself to watch the show long enough to find out.), I'm beginning to think these shows are a subtle form of racism.
