GP: Is MGS4 still planned as an exclusive PS3 game? Do you have any interest in Xbox 360 development?


Kojima: Well, yes, I do have strong interest in creating something for the Xbox 360. In the US and Europe, it is selling, and I think it will sell a lot this year as well. I'm a fan of Gears of War as well, it's very interesting.
Frankly speaking, I want to create something on the PC. It's a multi-platform [format]. I've been regularly studying work on the PC anyways, and I want to provide something as a world-wide platform because of the consequences with timing on the PlayStation platforms, MGS4 is actually for the PS3 only so far.
 
theres a full length Q&A on gametrailers.com, there is a lot of meaty information on the mgs4 game. Like hand to hand weapons etc, im excited.
 
GP: Obviously, the E3 trailer hinted at a 2007 release date. Are you shooting for a release at the end of the year, or the summer?

Kojima: We don't know, because the guy who said 2007 was Raiden, and not me. [laughter]

I doubt it will see a 360 release. If anything, they'd develop a different game for it but it looks like he'd rather work for PC at the moment. Maybe there will be a 360 port of the PC game though with the whole Live Anywhere thing going on.
 
he always adds a "so far" or "for right now" at the end of his statements that mgs4 is ps3 exclusive.

I bet hes under contract and cant say that its coming out for 360, until the time is up. Thats why he keeps hinting about it.
 
I love hearing Kojima talk about games. He's always got interesting analogies. Like when he said that all of the previous MGS games were like trying to rob a bank and not get caught... and how MGS4 is like trying to rob a bank in daylight and by walking in the front door.
 
lets see, he's asked if a game currently planned for the PS3 is going to 360 also and then he goes off to talk about how he wants to develop for the PC and Xbox. I would say it's a safe bet that MGS4 is going to 360.
 
I just beat Gears of War... Kinda disappointed it's fairly short; like 8 hours short. However it seems to have tons of reply and it's replay value seems quite high just because the combat in the game.

I WANT MORE! The story is amazingly compeling and is left pretty wide open currently so... yeah.... Bring on Gears 2! Definatly would say this is one of the best games I've ever played.
 
In other words, it is just a matter of time before the 360 version comes out. Tons of people in the industry seem to think the 360 version of MGS4 is already under development, and has been for a while. I am guessing Kojima isn't allowed to say anything about it until they are ready to announce it to the public.
