I have recently noticed a slight knocking noise as I turn either direction in my 98 jeep grand cherokee laredo. I just got back from a week in the mountains where the roads aren't great and had it in 4wd going up and down the mountain. I have tried putting it in and taking it back out of 4wd to see if that would stop the knocking but it didn't. It isn't a really loud knock but is noticeable. There is no vibrating or grinding noises. just a knock. Could it be a U joint? I know that I should take it to a mechanic and I will, I just wanted to see if anyone had any similar problems or had any ideas. I would like to have some kind of idea as to what I am looking at before going to the mechanic. Thank you for any information. Happy Holidays.
