I know that in ohio (or at least where i live) you must be 18 to buy a knife. this includes pocket knives, multi tools, knives, dagers and swords.

What i want to know is what are the carrying laws? And before you ask, no i don't wanna carry around a sword. what i wanna know is: what is the law regarding carrying multi tools?

If there are any police officers reading this or you know one you're input would be great help.

i'm only asking this because the muli tool isn't really a pocket knife but it has a blade. it's purely a question i turn 18 in in July so i think i can hold out before i break the law...what ever it is.

This varies considerably by jurisdiction and type of knife.

In Ohio switchblade, springblade knife, gravity (butterfly) knife, or similar weapon are all illegal.

In addition municipalities may further restrict this. Many in Ohio have the restriction that blades cannot be longer than 2.5 inches (federal standard for a deadly weapon).

related federal law
Possessing a knife in a federal facility is prohibited unless it is a pocket knife with blade under 2.5".
