Knee Pain- What Is it? (Read Details)?

So About 6-7 months ago I twisted my left knee weirdly and it hurt bad at the time but it got better, but after every time I work out for a while it hurts on the inside of my knee.

At first, it only hurt when I was working out, then it progressed to when I worked out plus about an hour or two after when putting weight on it, and for a few days now it hurts just climbing stairs and almost 12-13 hours after a workout and during just walking. It hurt more in the morning and right after practice just sitting around. There isn't any swelling or bruising but it's warmer than the other one.

What could it be, because I don't want to freak out over something small, and I don't want have to go to physical therapy or crutches or a brace or anything because then everyone will baby me. Should I keep playing through it?
What will doctors do if I do go in to get it checked? (Just wondering- doctors freak me out so if I have to go I want to know what will happen)
