Kitchen knives

There are so many experienced cooks on this Usenet group so I have a
few questions to ask if I may.

Once again bonus stickers are offered in our trading area for Thomas
kitchen knives.

Are these worth bothering with?...or are they just more gimmicks for
the junk drawer?

Is the storage block or the cutting board any good?

Unfamiliar with the brand Thomas, I googled. Up came a number of
specialty makers and a brand that sells dinnerware and kitchen-related
things. Who do you mean? -aem

Don't you just "love it" when people post questions like that about
something so obscure with no url to a reference of any kind?

Thomas has long been known for its very high quality crockery. I have a
dinner service that I received as a wedding present some 40 years ago,
purchased from a high end store in London. AIUI, it was later bought out by
the Rosenthal Group and like most things these days that have MBAs in
charge, it is now just a brand name trading on past "glories".

Most of their products now come from China. By the looks of the knives
from the store literature, I would say that they are "stamped" which
is not what I want. Thanks for your info.

OK, I did a little research, and these knives sound decent. They are
sold around the world, only through Supermarket frequent buyers point

Eight German reviews on dooyoo.de for "Thomas Rosenthal Messer" gave
the knives four or five stars out of five. Most of these folks are
young people who are leaving home for the first time. They liked the
sharpness, the way the knives fit the hand, and the sanitizing
benefits of not having a separate handle. One guy complained the steak
knife blades were too short. Nobody collected enough loyalty points to
get the storage block or cutting board.

More info than what I could find...thanks. Maybe I will give them a
try as they are "free" more or less. Its not hard to be "loyal" to our
store as it is the only one in town. Kind of frustrating when one is
used to a big city setting where there are a good many stores to
choose from.

Are you in the Calgary area? That offer is on here at the CoOp as was a
previous one for Thomas cookware, which was made in China like
everybloodything else these days!

Eastern Alberta actually...and yes through our local Co-op. I was
going to fore-go this offer but what-the-heck, I'll give 'em a try.
