The Kindle edition will only work if you have an Amazon Kindle - an electronic product for reading books (more info on this product is on Amazon.com). If the book you're trying to get only comes in Kindle edition on Amazon, that means that at this time you are unable to buy a physical copy of the book - so I suggest you try another online store (Barnes & Noble, maybe?).
Keep looking on Amazon. They probably put the kindle edition at the top, because they want to sell you their kindle, too. If that's all they really have, buy it somewhere else, or get it from the library.
