Keyboard Problem

At certain times my keyboard fails to work. It can be during a quick search or just on a SMS but my keyboard won't allow me to type and my phone starts running slowly.

Is there any solution to this problem? It just seems like a hassle to me having to turn my phone off to solve this problem.
 
When the phone lags it stops listening to the keyboard. You also said that your phone runs slowly at the same time. Therefore it's more than likely you have some app or apps running in the background that is using up all of the CPU power of your phone when the keyboard appears to stop working.
