Like Kids' WB! & 4KidsTV, say goodbye to Cake, Horseland, Care Bears, Strawberry Shortcake, Dino Squad and Sushi Pack as these shows will most likely not make it on CBS ever again and say hi to Cookie Jar TV next Saturday.

Eh, Cake had its' amusing moments, corny as it was.

Strawberry Shortcake was treacly, but I did like the character designs and animation.

I wish I could've seen Sushi Pack, but my local CBS affiliate never carried it. Same deal with Care Bears.

Good!

I'm personally looking forward to "Busytown Mysteries" (aka "Hurray for Huckle!") as i enjoyed the CiNAR series "The Busy World of Richard Scarry"

It's no surprise that they cancelled Care Bears AiCaL as the show and the revival of this franchise is big furfuffle* from beginning to end, there are so many flaws to even count (though i welcome anyone to try) like say Grizzle being the most pathetic villian in the animated history of the Care Bears and Funshine's awkward and questionale sex change (note: Funshine was a girl) plus aiming this at only young girls is a serious mistake due to the old school Care Bears fans are male and female and retargeting a franchise that united both sex genders together and then divide them by adding an annoying theme song, omitting literally EVERYTHING they know and love about the Care Bears right down to Care-a-Lot itself and make it so disgustingly cute that makes this much worse than say "Baby Looney Tunes" was (if you get my drift).

(* I watch "My Friend Rabbit" so sue me!)

^ Uh... I, a 23-year-old male, watched the recent Care Bears series.

Yes, it was disgustingly cute, but that's what drew me in. I personally liked it more than the original...

So, uh... sue me?

The "so sue me" part is for embarassment reasons
anyways, Care Bears AiCaL is downright bland
Oopsy Bear fails to represent the personality of his character (Oopsy = Clumsy), The Cousins are nowhere to be seen nor was Grams or Hugs & Tugs

That's how I feel about the KEWLopolis Strawberry Shortcake series. As a 40 year old male, I'm no SS connoisseur or anything, but I actually liked the 2003 videos more than the original specials. I actually didn't mind how the producers transformed the series into a villain free "slice of life" show. While the Purple Pie Man had some (fairly) amusing moments, he fell pretty firmly into the "I'm bad just because the show has to have a villain" category, so I think that the show did just fine (albeit sickly sweet) without him.

I haven't seen the latest Strawberry Shortcake reboot, so I can't comment on that one.

But that's just the opinion of 1 adult who's obviously outside of the show's target demographic. Saying "The new series is inferior because it's not the one that I personally grew up with." is a classic case of retro snobbery, and I can't help but be amused whenever an adult tries to pass judgment on a show that's clearly tailored for little kids.

The kids, whom the new series is aimed at likely have never seen the 80s series, and many of them probably wouldn't care even if they had. The lack of Grams Bear and the Care Bear Cousins isn't a weakness; it's just a different take on the franchise. American Greetings can include (or not include) whomever the shell they want to include because it's a fictional universe which is subject to the whims of it's creators.

It's your opinion, and you're certainly entitled to it, but the fact of the matter is that if you're old enough to remember the 80s show, then Care Bears: Adventures in Care-A-Lot wasn't made for you, so it doesn't matter if you don't enjoy the series. It only matters if the kids like it, and I haven't heard any complaints from them about how the new series stacks up to the original (of course, I don't have any kids, so I wouldn't know if they're complaining or not).
