kenwood dnx5140; just installed this in my car but iphone cannot play music. pls read

if you have this unit? I just installed this last nigh in my 07 altima. the deck has a usb port that i connect my usb from my iphone 3g to. it shows its playing the song and it shows the album picture on my deck but no sound coming out of it.
is there a setting i messed up or need to do or do i need a different usb cord to hear the music from my iphone.
also is the eject led on the unit suppose to blink red every 5 seconds when the car is off?
