I have two mountain minnows that breed every summer in an unheated tank. they have several clutches, and last year had 282!

this year, id like to raise them myself instead of giving them in a pet shop that used a heated tank. i dont want to go overboard, and buy a heater.

but id like to raise about 5, and i was wondering if i could put a tank in the hotwater cupboard, not close to the cylinder, but only while they are tiny.

do you think this would work?

also, any white cloud mountain minnows are welcome to give me any tips!!

thanks so much, -

They do best without heaters. You can put the tank anywhere you want, as long as the water temp doesn't dip too far below 60 degrees. No need to buy a heater for these fish, but heaters are only like $10-25 anyway.

i grew baby guppies in an unheated tank, i'd just get a breeder net to put into the tank and leave them right where they are at, about half will survive, maybe less. But more than likely you will have atleast 5. As long as your home is warm, your tank is warm. I don't even use a heater in my tank at all, my water is always too hot when i use one because my house is always warm. I know several pet stores will frown on this but as long as they are doing fine, and the water temp is where it should be, then don't worry about it!

White cloud mountain minnows don't need a heater... they can live in temps as low as about 47-50 degrees F.

Just put them in an aquarium. Filter it, and your set.
