Kant argues that an action only has moral worth if it is done according to duty. why?

Probably because moral worth is dictated by it's context, being in relationship to some goal or duty. I don't think any of the existentialists knew what they were talking about, but I can assume what was meant. How do you compare one action's moral worth to another without a common goal? Otherwise it means nothing.
