k550i won't turn on

My K550i turns off automatically and will not turn back on. Usually, when I press the power button, nothing happens but the red light in the infrared part blinks. When I have been able to turn it on, the opening screen comes on and then the screen turns white. I am positive it's not the battery. I've only had it for about 4 months and have never dropped it. Has this happened with anyone else? Does anyone have any ideas what the problem might be? Thanks!
 
Try a Master Reset. If that doesn't work, try updating the firmware through the Sony Ericsson Update Service (SEUS). And if that doesn't work, try flashing the phone's firmware. If the problems stil persist, more than likely it is a hardware problem. If you still have warranty with the manufacturer, I'd suggest you contact SE service center, and see if they can repair (or replace) it.

If you need help with stuff like firmware updating or flashing, just use a search engine and type those keywords there.
 
I believe I have the answer. Except those that people said on previous posts (which i haven't tried for several reasons) i have a temporary solution..

For some reason, last week my k550i did the same thing as well, i was pissed, i was trying to turn it on it just showed a white screen and then nothing... I accidentaly found that by pressing the number 3 on the keypad and the turn on button it switched on!!! No idea why this happens, but it WORKS!!!


No wonder it works, sony erricsson used the number 3 on the keypad for several other actions as well.. For instance if you press the # together with number 3 and the switch on button, (im not sure if i typed all the right buttons) the cell phone starts formating the data photos music etc..


But dont worry if you only press 3 + switch on (as i said before) plus it wont delete anything (but dont press the # accidentally or you might loose data) for some reason this is the only way mine switches on.. haven't figured why yet..
 
I've heard many a story of these incidents. It's not uncommon for the cause to be slight water damage, damaged contacts or general Firmware corruption. I would suggest hooking your phone up to your PC and updating it via SEUS. Even if you have the latest firmware, choose to update anyway - as the idea of this would be to reflash the firmware onto your phone. Think of it as re-installing your Operating System on your PC - that will usually iron out any bugs or viruses you've been experiencing. Let me know the result ;)
 
Dude that didn't even work on mines,
i tried doing to the same but it doesn't
WTH!? man i hate this phone now
i've been throwing it across the room bouncing
everywhere trying to turn this ****ty phone on..
when i do, do that the only thing that work is my
infrared port i dont get no white screen nothing
how did you manage to turn it on?
did you fix yours yet?

You can reinstall the software to your phone, check se-nse.net for details on doing it yourself with help from their professional level staff or you can have somebody do it for you at a store.
 
it's pretty much the same here - it's my former phone but i still want it to work.
 
Hey, just recently got the 'white screen of death'. read around various places but noone seems to have a definitive answer on what the cause is. Wonder if anyone can help and if it can be fixed by a relatively competent adult or whether it needs a professional. Or alternatively if worth scrapping and getting another.

It's been a while since the original post, but I just experienced the exact same problem. The screen goes white and it freezes. Now, I just get the flashing in the IR window.

Did anyone ever find a solution?
 
when the infrared blinks, that means the phone has nearly no battery. Try recharging it, and then it should turn on.
