Juvenile Criminal Record - Disclosure Scotland?

My friend has been awful worried as his son has a 'Juvenile offense' on his record. It was very minor as far as crimes go. He was "charged" formally with two separate offenses but did not have to appear in court or in front of anyone other than the two police officers dealing with the case. He doesn't think there was a fine or any other complications. His son also came into the Police Station voluntarily - if that makes any difference. There was no taped recording. His son was about 12 at the time and now is 16. It is the only black mark against his name. He's a straight A student.

Will this be on his record? Will it ever be wiped? Will it appear on the Disclosure (Scotland) checks or any background checks from Universities and employers? If applying for an Australian or New Zealand or USA visa will it show up there? Will it stop him in professions such as Law, Health and Medicine, and Pharmacy?

Would really appreciate this info as the parent and son are both extremely worried. Thanks
