Been wondering, why don't the characters in Naruto use more jutsus?
For example, why don't we ever see, say, Naruto using the Shadow Imitation Jutsu that Shikamaru uses? (and why does Shikamaru only use those 'Shadow Techniques'?)
Shikamaru uses the Shadow Possession Jutsu because the Nara clan specializes in that specific technique. It's the one they are most familiar and comfortable with. They can use other techniques, they just choose not to.
Same thing with Ino Yamanaka. The Yamanakas specialize in the Mind Transfer Technique.
