...Michigan)? It was March 2001 and yes i know its been over 10 years and I now live in Ohio, but i never pressed charges because of scare tactics and it seemed hopeless anyways. These were the official charges against me that" earned" me this beating: Operating vehicle without ops (as in I did have a valid license at the time, but was not carrying it on my person at the time), and of course, resisting arrest. And no I did not try to make a dash for it or strike any of the officers first or at all for that matter. Just got pummeled for 5 minutes knowing that protecting my self or fighting back would only make things worse.

Don't care about your tale of woe and it makes no difference where you live now but to answer:
nothing special for cops or any other government official. Your description makes it a felony but not a 10 year special felony and with no sexual assault under 18
the answer is 6 years.

From code section 767.24. simplified for you.
Michigan statute of limitations, felonies.
Murder: none;
Kidnapping, extortion, assault with intent or conspiracy to murder: 10 yrs.;
all others: 6 yrs.;
Except
if victim was under age 18 for any degree of sexual conduct or assault with intent to commit sexual conduct or any sexually abusive activity or material to minor: 10 yrs. or when the victim turns 21 yrs. old, whichever is later; if DNA evidence obtained: none until offender identified, then 10 yrs. after identification or when victim turns 21, whichever is later.

If you're resisting arrest, the police officers are allowed to beat you, without hesitation. Next time, don't resist arrest.

Actually, even if you weren't resisting arrest, police officers can still beat you, as long as they're yelling, "STOP RESISTING! STOP RESISTING!"
