wireless internet? also...? you need a internet service to use wireless right?

also is it worth it to buy a wireless-N router linksys if i want to play internet games and surf the net like i would with the speed of as if i was hooking my laptop with a ethernet cable directly to the comcast model?

so basically if i buy a wireless-N router linksys, will my internet speed be as fast as directly hooking up the laptop to the cable model or will it be only slightly difference?
