Just started high school track, leg injury, need advice

I joined high school track this year as a freshman and after one of the harder workouts my lower inside left leg hurt. It had this weird almost sort of rash like patch on it. When I land on my left leg, it hurts. I suspect it's a pulled muscle, but I'd like confirmation. It's spring break right now so it'd be a good time to rest up, but I'd hate to get out of condition to come back like it was the beginning of the season.

I had a picture but apparently pictures aren't allowed. Also, I think this might belong better in Exercise & Fitness, sorry.

I'd like to add that my leg is actually sort of hurting right now, when I'm not doing anything, so I think it might be getting worse.

Did the rash look a little bit like a bullseye? If so it may be an erythema migrans...there's lots of pictures out there that you can compare your rash to.

You were very smart to take a picture of that rash...save it as it may come in handy for identifying your problem.

No, it's a pretty solid block. I think it'd be better described as a bruise. It was like a chafed reddish sort of patch on the day I got it. But now it just looks like a bruise.

Try putting an ice pack on it for 10 minutes a few times a day, and don't run until it gets better. That's the cure for most minor muscle injuries.

If it doesn't seem to be getting better, ask a doctor. Also, you might want to talk to your coach.

Well it's been 6 days of rest now. The most activity I've been getting is playing a little basketball, but I make sure to walk/VERY slowly jog. I doesn't hurt when I'm not moving, or even when I begin playing basketball, but after about 30 minutes, I feel a bit of strain. Do you think it's possible for my leg to heal if I begin running now/very soon? School begins this Monday and I'll probably talk to the trainer if I don't feel 100% then, but if possible, I want to at least get a little in shape prior to that.
