What is one example in history of a "genocide"?

What is the difference between war and genocide?

--Rwanda genocide in 1994 (see 2nd link)
--War doesn't necessarily target one group of people--they wouldn't kill all the soldiers who were, for instance, Jewish; they would simply kill anyone who is the enemy.
