just had tonsils removed weird to pee?

I just had my tonsils removed and idk if this is normal but it feels like when i have to pee instead of just sitting there i have to push for it to come out, is this because of the medication? idk if because the surgery took an hour and recovery did also that maybe they gave me some medication that so i wouldnt wet the bed?
or does maybe the medication give me a false sense that i need to pee? idk, it hasnt even been 24 hours yet since the surgery but i was wondering if anyone else has been through the same thing as me after there tonsilectomy?
also if it still goes on for a few days i'll obviously contact my doctor, but i was just hoping i could get some helpful answers at the moment. thank you very much =)
 
You may have had a catheter inserted during surgery. This is fairly common so you don't urinate during surgery because of contamination problems. I have had this to happen in the past and I do feel like a patient should be told what to expect when this is necessary.
 
Sounds like a reaction to your medication or pain killers, or a urinary tract infection caused by antibiotics. Doc will let you know for sure, you'll probably have to tinkle in a cup. ;)
 
I'm almost certain it's your medications. Are you on any kind of opiate painkiller? That can easily cause what you're describing. Check w/ your Doc if it continues past when you stop the meds.
