Just got myself a N73

Hey all, I finally pulled the trigger and got a silver/plum Nokia N73. Having it for a few days however have raised some more questions.

1. I know this phone freezes sometimes but I didn't know it is this frequent. It froze on me a couple of times with and without my 1gb Sandisk minisd card when I was just checking out the stuff.

2. Camera ... it seems to freeze/lag when I am taking a video. Like, while I am recording a video all of a sudden it freezes or lags for a long time on me. Gets annoying because I cant even finish recording to my time alotted.

Could all these problems be firmware related and solved by updating the firmware.

3. Also, on another note is there a program that allows me to change my Ringing type to vibrate a few times first then the actual sound/ring will kick in?

By the way, I did try to search. But if for some reason there was a thread on this, sorry and thanks for busting me out.

I think a firmware update could solve (partly at least) those issues.

Anyway I have to recommend you to update firmware as soon as possible because you have that nasty "stuck in offline" mode bug in that firmware which is fixed in 3.x firmwares.

Also with 3.x firmware you don't need the sms accelerator patch either.

Yeah I turned 3d tunes off and set logs to a day.

Question about firmware updating however.
So, I got the N73 regular edition and I assuming my current firmware is finland's. Since I'm in U.S. , is there and do I update with Finland's region still?

Also, right now I like that the shutter sound of the camera is off when putting my phone in silent. Do the newer firmwares still have that?

However, all that does is ring and vibrate at the same time.

I came from samsung which when someone calls, the phone vibrates for like 3 times and then the ring takes over. I like this option because in case I forget to put my phone on silent in a meeting or class .. it vibrates first giving me enough time to end call.
 
Ok, i just played around with mine and basically got 1 full vibrate before the ringing starts. I dont think you can get a vibrate-then-ring type thing with 3 full vibrates. I just had that on my blackberry pearl so I may have gotten confused.
 
This is the first time I've ever heard of anyone who likes Samsungs vibrate then ring option. It's one of the main reasons I'd never use a Samsung... I want my phone to ring AND vibrate at the same time, not one then the other.
 
NSU will read your product code from the phone and update that product code based on the region set to the product code. So, it doesn't matter where you live.

If you currently don't have a shutter tone in silent, then you won't when you upgrade. Euro firmwares keep the shutter tone silent and Asian firmwares force the tone to play even in silent mode. If you start with Euro, the firmware update will keep it in Euro.
