About 6 years ago my credit cards went to collections. Barely getting by with the income I was making I wasn't able to pay any of them off. Just recently, I got a letter saying I had to go to court, I was being sued. Well I didn't show to court-so now I received a letter saying I have to go to court for a debtor examinee? They have already gone to my work and is trying to garnish my wages. I am an independent contractor and so it's not like I get paid with paystubs. Does this mean there is a judgement on me already? Why do they want me to go to Court again? If I don't pay this will the amount go up? Once your in a judgement, does it ever go away if you can't pay? Now I just got another letter from another lawyer for another credit card that went into collections. If I claim bankruptcy how long does it stay for?
