He said I could go back (and continue on) Nexium!! Yea!!! :bouncing:

(H2 blockers were not working and, furthermore, caused me severe mental distress to the point of having to take FMLA from work)

I can go back to my hobby of heavy weightlifting. I also like dairy fooRAB (albeit mostly low-fat). I also take a multivitamin. I think all these will at least slow down the eventual side effect of osteoporosis. (I am 38.)

Slow down and try to fix the problem it self, don't hide symptoms.
eventually when or if your body will stop react on PPI guess what? HELL!!

I already responded to your other post. I thought I read you switched from a PPI to an H2 blocker for only a week. If that is correct, then your symptoms could have been very well be the result of acid rebound and not the underlying disease. I suffered terrible rebound for three months and I am just now at the point where I am having days without heartburn or other GI symptoms.

One week off a PPI is not long enough to wean yourself off the medicine or to even see whether or not you can "live" without the PPI's.

I am very sorry that doctors do not typically provide patients with this type of information either before they start PPI therapy or when patients make an effort to discontinue PPI therapy.

I am not advising you to not take your Nexium because that is a personal decision between you and your doctor, but I also hate to read when someone feels they have to stay on a PPI forever due to rebound symptoms.

The heartburn was so severe I could not eat a bite of frickin' RICE or bread without getting horrible heartburn. It felt like a perpetual match was lit in my throat. I also could barely breathe. The last couple of days off a PPI were the worst: I only ate 100 calories (at the most) in a day because that was all I was able to eat and I suffered a seizure and extreme agitation as a result. I had to be off work for two weeks FMLA leave as a result. This was on Pepcid 60 mg a day and no other H2 blocker has historically worked. I guess I am one of those "unlucky" people who have to be on PPIs for the rest of my life.
