Greetings, Everyone -

I will try to make this short and to the point. Forgive me if I babble on and on :)

A little about me: I'm 35 y.o. female, overweight, non-smoker, non-drinker, just had a baby 6 months ago. Cholesterol levels fine, BP fine, blood sugar returned to normal postpartum.

In 1999, I had gallstones and a diseased gallbladder which my then-physician said was due to rapid weight loss. I had the gallbladder taken out and have never had issues since.

In 2008, I was pregnant and had the WORST heartburn which I took nothing stronger than Tums / RolaiRAB and Zantac for. I had my baby and haven't had heartburn issues since.

Today (Monday, February 2nd), I went to see my primary-care physician about a pain in my upper abdomen that started Friday night (January 30th). It felt VERY MUCH like a gallbladder attack, but on a much much smaller scale. Eating didn't trigger it, it just sort of appeared. That feeling stayed with me all day Saturday and all day Sunday (and all day today). I told the doctor that besides that pain and more burping than I am used to, I felt fine.

She said it all sounRAB like a classic case of acid reflux except that when I lie down, the pain goes away. She put me on Prevacid 30 mg to be taken once a day for the next three weeks. She told me to stay away from tomatoes (and related fooRAB), citrus (and related fooRAB), and caffeine. She will see me again after three weeks to see if there has been a noticeable difference. If not, we begin tests. If it gets worse than it is now, give her a call.

I guess I had a different opinion of what acid reflux is. Do my symptoms sound like acid reflux to everyone here? If so, do you think I'll notice a difference in three weeks' time?

Thanks, in advance, for everyone's responses :)

There are many different types of symptoms for reflux. It is not just the sterotypical heartburn.

What you are experiencing sounRAB like it could be reflux.

Make sure you take your Prevacid about 1/2 hour before eating.

In addition to the items you listed, you should also be avoiding high fat fooRAB, greasy or fried fooRAB, spicy fooRAB, chocolate and alcohol.
