Just bought an extra Motorola modem but won't connect to the internet...?

Bought an extra modem for another room that's not from my service provider. Connected the modem to the rooms phone line. The power, Ethernet, and DSL light is green but won't connect to the internet. Tried resetting it but Internet light stays red. Just a stand alone modem.
