From the beginning of time, my parents have supported me until two days ago. They're kicking me out of the house because I don't want to be a doctor and I want to go into a different field. I'm 21 years of age and I also have a job working for them as well. The problem is, they're firing me due to double digit drops in sales because of the tough economy. I have no money and no place to live. My brother let me borrow his car to live in and things have been rough. I've been going from friend's house to friend's house without much success of finding a place to stay. I go to a private school that my parents used to pay for (18 G's a semester) and I make about half that per year. Now, I can't pay that kind of money, I can barely find a place to live. I'm a strong person and will find a way but I can't pay that type of tuition and can't get financial aid because I don't fall under independency on the FAFSA and my parents make too much but it doesn't matter because I'm basically independent now. My friend then told me about this question: "At any time on or after July 1, 2009, did the director of an emergency shelter or transitional housing program funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development determine that you were an unaccompanied youth who was homeless?" Now with that in mind, does anybody know how I can get to a homeless shelter and have a director determine my status because if they decide that I fall under that category (which I know I do), I can get financial aid which would really give me a boost. Thanks for the help.
