So, let me start by saying that I am/was hoping to stick with T-Mobile, since reception in my neighborhood is best with them. I am not totaly opposed to switching to AT&T, but I've been with T-Mobile for 4 years and enjoy the service.
So, I am in the market for a new phone, and I am about at wits end
I have been researching phones and service and this is what I've concluded. Please correct me where I am wrong.
T-Mobile will now be using 1700/2100 for the 3G network, when it's rolled out. This means, right now, now matter what phone I buy (was looking at unlocked GSM's) I am boned come 3G rollout time. NOTHING that I've seen will work. Maybe I settle for a cheap phone and see what happens, but there are some very tempting phones ($300 + ?!?!?) that will work with their existing network.
Then we have AT&T. If I spot a 3G phone that operates on the 850/1900 frequency...and I am guessing here... I MAY be safe using it with their 3G network? If that answer is yes, then I may just switch to AT&T (whos 3G supposed to be in Denver soon) because I won't blow money on a phone that's destined for the dustbin.
If that answer is no, then I what's the point in switching.
Am I the only one in this dilemma, or am I just waaayyy overthinking things?
Thanks in advance
