I was dealing with bad joint pain off and on for past year. Figured it might be from the PPI which I started taking around the same time the pain started. Problem is the PPI stops my reflux. Remove one thing get something else. Anyway I started drinking milk again and my joint pain went away. Stopped it and it came back. Must have something to do with Calcium. These days I drink one glass of milk a day with carnation instant breakfast, seems to stop any joint pain. Must be a connection somehow with PPI and Calcium.

Your thread title instantly caught my eye. I have had so much joint pain these past two months as I've struggled with a new LPR diagnosis and started PPI therapy. BUT, I have had bouts of joint pain in the past, so I haven't necessarily linked my latest aches and pains with either the LPR or the PPI. I'm middle-aged and often figure that the aches and pains are probably age-related, but I do wonder about the PPI. I think joint pain is a listed side effect of PPIs, although I think I read it only happens in a very small minority of cases.

Neddy and Abby-

What PPI do you take? I take Prevacid and sometimes have joint pain but it's intermittent and I never made the connection.

I take Prescription Prilosec. My joint pain was also intermittant, though it's gone now.

I also take prescription Prilosec (which is the same as OTC Prilosec, by the way, although sometimes prescribed for higher dosage). I'm taking 40mg per day and my GI doc says to stay at that dosage until I see him again in February, but I'm thinking of halving the dosage after the holidays (because I'm feeling pretty good these days) and seeing what happens with regarRAB to both the reflux and the joint pain.
