I'm just about finishing my BA in political science, and I've been contemplating joining the military (U.S) through Officer Candidate School (OCS) but of course one of the things that kept sticking on my mind was the chance of losing my life (pretty big decision right here).
Anyway I spoke to my ex-marine Prof, and he said one statement that just put me at ease and I dont know if I should be.... but here it is.
"...look at it this way, when you finish your service(4 yrs), you come out better than you went in and with more things to show for (in reference to applying to grad school after military and post military action plans), but worst case scenario you die, then you dont have to worry about career plans".
I dont know why, but I felt (and still do) much better after hearing this....Am I thinking straight?
