Joining the military after college? Pros and Cons?

I see it more as risks since it is the politicians in power that will control your fate.
Also you can serve your country in other ways: teachers, police, firefighter, politician,....
I wish people in the military had more a say in whether they want to participate in a war for ex. ; if they find it fair or unfair.

I know there are many threads that already ask my question, but maybe I just have to do some research for myself...I have always had a desire to join the military and it has been in the back of my mind since I was a kid. I have had multiple family members in the service who have given me some good information, talked with some recruiters and done research on my own...but most of this info has been one-sided (pro-military)...I would like to hear from you all as well.

So what I am asking for are the pros/cons of joining after college? I am aware that going in as an officer is a choice, and have also been told that the loan-repayment program is not for officer and only enlisted. I am leaning towards the Army, but keeping my options open. I need to know all of the details before I join, because it is such a huge decision. My family is against it because of the risk involved, but I know they would support me in whatever I choose. Please help me with some facts/specifics about joining. Thank you for your time.

Don't heres a quote to explain " WAR IS PLANNED BY OLD BUT FOUGHT BY YOUNG WHILE THE OLD HIDE FROM ENEMY LINES."

The only reason to ever fight a war is if there is a chance USA can fall

Pro: family legacy, easy way to die if you are religious and suicidal, keep in good shape, but really if you are missing out on the loans thats the only benefits that they offered kids going into college. Serving your country
Cons: easy to die if you are NOT suicidal, a lot of businesses dont hire people who have been enlisted, thats just how it works despite what they say. You wont get the loans if you are an officer and end up paying college tuition yourself if you still desire to go afterwords, it can be psychologically taxing (shell shock/ post traumatic stress syndrome) a lot of people dont get debriefed correctly and it ends up giving them psychological issues. Serving the fat rich politicians who would rather send you than their own kids to fight their personal battles.

There's about a million pros and cons. Way too many to list.

If I were to sum it all up, I'd say that it's MONUMENTALLY important to pick the branch and job that fits you. Also, officer life is far different than Enlisted life.

Go with your gut, and read all the stuff already out there on the subject.

If you are going to be an officer:

Pros: Leadership skills (really helpful for a civilian career)
Great Experience
See the world
Meet many different people form many different backgrounds
Great benefits, and if you stay in, good retirement
Honorable
Something you can be proud of
The training may just come in handy some time
There are more, but I'll stop

Cons: There is a slim chance that you could be killed
