John Travolta as JR Ewing?

I read that he has officially confirmed he will be playing the iconic soap character in Dallas the Movie.

Opinions?

I think he is perfect for the role, however they need to get someone as equally talented and good lookswise as Sue Ellen to really pull it off.
 
J-Lo is a strange choice for the role,the original character of Sue Ellen was not Hispanic.PC strikes again:rolleyes:I do like the idea of Travolta as JR,Brad Pitt as Ray and Shirley Mclaine as Miss Ellie,however!
 
I dislike J Lo but she is a good looker. Swellin was very unattractive to me anyhow (she was good when drunk though) and it must have been the middle aged men who liked her! Larry Hagman is the only JR for me and he should at least be cast as Jock. I cannot see how this movie can work. I am a crazy die hard Dallas fan and it seems sacriligeous to make a movie without the real cast.
 
I saw that announced on Entertainment Today. Surprisingly he wouldnt have sprung to my mind as any good - but seeing him on tv today i could picture him with the old Stetson and the texan drawl, suitbally slimy and underhand lol......as for J-Lo - Nooooooo!!!
 
I saw John Travolta in the film 'Broken Arrow' with Christian Slater the other night, and after watching that character I'd have to say that I think he would make an excellent choice as J.R. Ewing.

I'm not saying that the characters are the same, I'm just saying that watching John Travolta in that film made it easy to imagine him playing J.R. quite comfortably.
