I have just had to register for Job Seekers Allowance, but I have an elderly mother who lives in France who I have to visit regularly. You have to attend the Jobcentre just to 'sign' every 2 weeks. I have been told that you can sign by post, does anyone know if this is correct?

Many thanks

Not that i know of, the idea of having to go to the jobcentre is so that they can make sure your doing enough to find a job. They want to check how many interviews you've been to, how many places your looking for work etc. Its not simply just going in to sign stuff anymore, they push you into any job they can find for you. You might have to reschedule the appointmnets you can't make.

Ha, ha, that's very funny. Lets all stay in bed while looking for work. Although you are probably right. That's why there are some many lazy parasites in the country.
How can you claim job seekers allowance, when you are not available for work.
Move to France, and sign on there.
