raised as a spirit and not a flesh? I have been told by many JW’s that 1 Peter 3:18 proves that Christ was raised form death as a spirit as it uses the words “in the spirit” which mean that he is a spirit and not a fleshy human.
1 Peter 3: 18 Why, even Christ died once for all time concerning sins, a righteous [person] for unrighteous ones, that he might lead YOU to God, he being put to death in the flesh, but being made alive in the spirit. [Watchtower version]
Looking at that if it is the evidence, what do the following verses mean?
John 11:33 Jesus, therefore, when he saw her weeping and the Jews that came with her weeping, groaned in the spirit and became troubled; [Watchtower version]
Was Christ a spirit then, as He groaned "IN THE SPIRIT"?
Acts1:5 because John, indeed, baptized with water, but YOU will be baptized in holy spirit not many days after this.” [Watchtower version]
Is John a spirit or a fleshy man as he baptizes "IN THE HOLY SPIRIT" ?
What about the rest of these verses, does your evidence also prove that these people were spirits and without fleshy bodies?
Act 18:5 And when Silas and Timothy had come from Macedonia, Paul was pressed in the spirit and testified to the Jews that Jesus is the Christ.
Act 18:25 This man was instructed in the way of the Lord. And being fervent in the spirit, he spoke and taught the things of the Lord diligently, knowing only the baptism of John.
Act 19:21 After these things were ended, passing through Macedonia and Achaia, Paul purposed in the spirit to go to Jerusalem, saying, After I have come there, I must also see Rome.
Rom 1:9 For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of His Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you
Rom 8:9 But you are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone has not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of His.
Luk 1:17 And he shall go before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.
Joh 4:23 But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father seeks such to worship Him.
Or could it be something like worshiping "in spirit" and in truth?
