Jehovah’s Witnesses: Why are you constantly on defense against pagan practices?

Have you read Abraham Kuijper? I’m not talking about the blatantly unbiblical practices such as sacrificing your babies to a false God, pagan sex orgies, or worshipping a Golden Calf. Instead, I’m talking about morally neutral activities such as birthday celebrations, baby showers, Father’s Day, exchange of wedding rings, gardening, and so on.

Although each one of these activities may have some “pagan origins,” this does not mean we should retreat and give them over completely to Satan for his control and for his purposes. Why not reclaim them for the glory of Jehovah? Think about this: Abraham Kuijper wrote: "There is not a square inch in the whole domain of our human existence over which Christ, who is Sovereign over all, does not cry: 'Mine!'"

Do you agree with this quote? If so, would you agree to go on the “offensive” and reclaim those formally “pagan activities” for the glory of God?

Your abstention from so many “pagan practices” sends the message that you are practicing an appeasement policy, much like Chamberlin did with Adolph Hitler. You are relinquishing things to Satan, when Jesus is crying “MINE!”
